Teacher of English – This position is permanent and to commence in September 2025

Our School is a thriving independent day school for boys and girls aged 7-18 years. Founded in 1860 and set in pleasant grounds, we are just a few minutes walk away from the centre of the historic market town of Abingdon, and just 8 miles from the city of Oxford.
We seek a well-qualified and inspirational professional to teach English at all levels up to, and including, A Level, to all year groups. At GCSE, pupils study Edexcel IGCSE English language and English Literature, and Sixth form students study Edexcel. Pupils are taught in small groups throughout the school, and A-level English is popular.
The English Faculty also includes Drama, A-level Film and BTEC Media. The faculty participates actively in events such as National Poetry Day and Carnegie Shadowing. Regular theatre visits, study days and other extra-curricular activities are organised. This is a very creative department with poetry and writing competitions running every year.
The ideal candidate will have:
A good degree in English or a related discipline
Experience of teaching up to and including A Level.
Track record of motivating learners and raising achievement
Team player who is flexible in outlook and attitude
Excellent communication skills
Patient, friendly and approachable
