Teacher of English
This position is full time, permanent and to commence in September 2026
For September 2026 we are seeking a highly qualified teacher of English at this 11-18 grammar school with a co-educational Sixth Form. This post offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to teach motivated and able students in an innovative and high achieving school.
We have 1370 students, of which 450 are in the Sixth Form. In 2024 the school was judged to be Outstanding in a full section 5 inspection in every category. It is regarded as one of the leading grammar schools in the country. As lead in the Teaching School Hub – Buckinghamshire, we provide an exciting range of professional development opportunities.
At A level, we offer the AQA specification A English Literature. In Drama and Theatre Studies, the Edexcel specification is followed. In each year there are usually two or three sets of English Literature and one of Theatre Studies and we aim for all staff to have the opportunity to teach the Sixth Form. Results at A level are particularly strong; 30% gained A* in 2025. Several students take the subject on to university level each year, usually including Oxbridge.
