Teacher of RS & Philosophy

This position is permanent and to commence in September 2024

Our school is an outstanding, boys’ grammar school with 1400 students including a large sixth form in the heart of Buckinghamshire. Religion and Philosophy is highly valued at our school, and we support its continuing growth. All students study core RS and we offer GCSE RS and A level Philosophy. All resources are shared in the department. A challenging yet engaging assessment policy has been implemented that allows students to build on their written, oral and debating skills. The department takes pride in focusing on developing inquisitive, reflective and critical thinkers through a rigorous curriculum that puts inquiry, reasoning and deep philosophical thinking alongside faith and belief to explore the big questions.

We put ‘Developing Character’ at the heart of everything we do as we take a holistic approach to the development of our students.

The R&P Core curriculum aims to provide students both breadth and depth of major world religions and ethical and philosophical theories and debates. Our curriculum is challenging, engaging and fun. We are an innovative and ever-changing subject that looks to trial new schemes of work and pedagogies to find what works best for our students. At GCSE we study Christianity and Buddhism, which allows for a great contrast and thorough evaluation when applied to the ethical component of the GCSE. At A Level we study Philosophy which is an exciting opportunity for students and teachers alike.

We can offer you:

  • Motivated and ambitious pupils
  • A friendly and supportive team of teachers and support staff
  • A positive, caring and collaborative working environment
  • A commitment to professional development
